Music has always been a big part of my life. I can remember how, even as a very little girl, I loved to sing. My mother played records on the hi-fi and would sing and dance as she ironed and dry- or wet-mopped the floor. My father was a constant whistler. When I was a teenager and met my first serious boyfriend, he was a guitarist in a local rock band.
As the years passed, although I still listened to the radio and occasionally to favorite albums and CDs, music took a back seat to -- well -- life. This past Christmas, my husband and I gave an MP3 player to our 10-year-old grandson (who inherited the musical gene - he is learning to play bass guitar). I signed up for one of the on-line music download sites, and filled the player with music I thought he would enjoy, music I thought he should be exposed to, and music for the pure joy of it. As I searched for and found obscure songs from my more than 50-year life, I found a rekindling of my love affair with music. I got an MP3 player for myself, then bought one for my husband as well. I just downloaded my first playlist, and I've been singing and dancing around the house. I have rediscovered the joy of music.
If you haven't discovered or rediscovered it for yourself yet, I highly recommend it!
