 Mom's last Christmas -- December 2004
|
Despite her five-year battle with cancer, Mom was still lucky. When there was a church raffle or some kind of drawing, she almost always won something, however small. So, today, on what would have been her 87th birthday, when I found myself running into "sevens" all day long (i.e., it was somebody's 7th anniversary, etc.), I felt that that maybe Mom was trying to tell me something. Should I play sevens on the daily lottery?? Well, I didn't do that, but I did buy an assortment of scratch tickets, and I have them waiting on the desk next to me. I don't know if I'll win anything, and it really doesn't matter if I don't. I think Mom just wanted to have some fun with me on her birthday. So here goes, Mom. Help me scratch 'em. Wish me luck!
